Kathryn Kueppers, Miss Minnesota 2019-2020 and creator of theInvisibleCrown.org comprehensive online resource, has been an outspoken advocate for the Miss America Organization and the benefits this program provides young women.
In 2022, Kathryn followed her heart and calling and became a FOCUS Missionary. She has been sharing her personal testimony of faith and how it has led her to the full-filling missionary work she is now doing. FOCUS is a Catholic collegiate outreach with the mission to share the hope and joy of the Gospel with college and university students. FOCUS Missionaries train in Church teachings of prayer, Scripture, evangelization and discipleship. Each team works to encounter college students in friendship, inviting them to grow deeper in their faith and to pursue lives of virtue and excellence. Kathryn completed her first year of missionary work in Oxford, Ohio, serving college students at Miami University. She is currently serving at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. |

Recognized as the largest provider of scholarship assistance for women in the country, the Miss America Organization celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021. Still today there are many misconceptions about the benefits and relevancy of programs such as this. In 2018, the Miss America Organization made the decision to eliminate the swimsuit phase of competition. For women who wish to improve their lives through education and community service, many candidates have welcomed this change.In 2020, due to the global pandemic, Miss America cancelled their national competition. Because of this landmark decision by Miss America, Kathryn and the other state titleholders were asked to remain until 2021 representing their states.
With the goal to bring renewed awareness of the opportunities offered to women by the Miss America Organization, Kathryn has created the online resource, theinvisiblecrown.org, for candidates, volunteers, families, and sponsors. She has written and produced numerous YouTube videos; written blogs; compiled news and history; and provides resources for women wishing to learn more. Speaking to community organizations throughout the state, Kathryn shares her story of her being a candidate and the benefits she and all young women gain from competing in this program. When women discover they are awarded scholarships to help reach their educational and professional goals, Miss America becomes alive to them!
